Empowering Collaboration with RENEW ( Respect, Educate, Nurture & Empower Women)

Hooray! Another empowering 2 weeks training on Souvenir Designing delivered to 20 women from RENEW ( Respect, Educate, Nurture and Empower Women) .

The training commenced on 31st May, 2022 with 20 women who were already sound with basic tailoring skills. Designing and development of assorted bags and pouches were taught to the trainees.

The intensive 2 weeks training was a success with great feedbacks from the trainees. Tote bag, flat purse, sling bag, clutch and men’s wallet were the core training components.

FIT is always open to collaborations, cheers to more successful collaborations.

Souvenir Design & Development for RENEW Women

“I felt like leaving on the first day of training. But I am so grateful I stayed.” said one of the trainees.
2 weeks Souvenir Design and Development Training started from 31st May, 2022 and will be completed on 16th June 2022.
20 Women from RENEW are being trained to stitch and finish various types of bags within 2 weeks
.
“I felt like leaving on the first day of training. But I am so grateful I stayed.” said one of the trainees.
She found it very challenging at first but was happy when she could complete a bag . Nothing is easy in this world, one must work hard to achieve something.

The batch of trainees are showing utmost interest and curiosity in such training.

What is Retreat?

Retreat is the act of giving up and withdrawing or a time away in a quiet and secluded place where you can relax.
The last week of May have been a wellness week for FIT Family to start afresh and come back stronger as a team. It has indeed been mentally refreshing and a good time to bond beyond the 9-5 normal routine. More so we would highly recommend the other organizations to adopt such practice to take a break from the busy schedule to increase the efficiency of the work.

A morning hike to Paro Taktsang, hot stone bath to relax your feet and a staycation at glamorous camp (tented staycation) was good enough to reboot our system.
On a personal note, the FIT Team would like to thank our CEO Sonyctenzin for the gracious relaxing retreat.

“2 Weeks Tracksuit Tailoring Training Completion”

“2 Weeks Tracksuit Tailoring Training Completion” – Held at Bumthang, BOC Hall

The tailoring of tracksuit has been recognized as one of the critical capability development (CCD) programs under Ministry of Labour & Human Resources (MoLHR) , DNHRD. The training program which was 2 weeks long from 3rd May – 17th May, 2022 was successfully completed by Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in collaboration with MoLHR.
The closing program was graced by his honorable Dasho Dzongrab, who did the honor of distributing certificates to each of the 20 trainees.

The 2 weeks program focused on drafting pattern, cutting, stitching and finishing of Tracksuit Jacket and Trouser.
The final products were assessed and have to be submitted to the DNHRD for further distribution.
The trainees were happy and satisfied with the quality of the training program and said that it will be helpful in scaling up their business.

Did you know that Zippers are celebrated just like we celebrate our birthdays?

In life, we take many things for granted and the humble zipper is one of them.
National Zipper Day is on April 29 and we are full of zip for this day!

Zipper is one of the essential fasteners in fashion industry without which most of the apparels will be incomplete. Inspect your wardrobe once and it shall be full of zips! Jacket, Denim Jeans, Bags, Shoes, Wallet, Purses and the list goes on.
And when your favorite jacket’s zipper get broken, oh your heart gets broken too. That is when you go to a Tailor to get it mended. So, appreciate your zippers for doing a great job, at least for today.

Background Check!

Elias Howe may have invented the first zipper and got a patent for what he called the “Automatic, Continuous Clothing Closure” in the 1800s. However, neither did he market his product nor did he get any recognition for it.
Therefore, National Zipper Day helps to put the humble zipper back in the spotlight, even if just for one day. And recognize the expert involved in the invention of such a useful fastener!

Conclusion of De-Suung Skilling Programme: ‘Tailoring in Traditional Apparel & Western Garments’

The Tailoring Industry has proved to be one of the sustainable businesses during such critical times. And the absence of western garment tailoring was urgently felt by the nation. That has led to the establishment of these courses under DSP.

The 4 month long program from December 6, 2021 – April 7, 2022 successfully concluded despite series of lockdown due to the gracious and continued support from the DSP officials. The closing ceremony was graced by honorable Dasho Tshering Wangchuk with encouraging words for the graduating desuups.

During the four-month training – 33 DeSuups were trained out of which 15 in Western Garment and 18 in Traditional Apparel Tailoring.

Western Garment Tailoring- Basic Tailoring, stitching & finishing of 4 pockets pant & shirt, 6 pockets pant & shirt, tracksuit Jacket and resizing the garments.

Traditional Apparel Tailoring- Basic Tailoring, stitching & finishing of Tego, Wonju, Shanja Tego, Full Kira, Half Kira, Hook Kira and Gho. In addition, stitching of Chhoezey Items (Kuthang) were also taught.

At this juncture, the participants are now “Some-body” equipped with skills for the job market. We are confident that many of them will be self-employed by starting their own tailoring shops as they are now job ready. Finally, we would like to pay our humble tribute to His Majesty the King and take the pledge in fulfilling the aspiration of His Majesty in the skilling program of DSP with the highest loyalty and dedication.

FIT joins in celebrating the Global Autism Awareness Day because we believe in promoting Gender Equity, Diversity and Social Inclusion in the community (GEDSI).
Autism, a complex developmental condition affecting the patient’s ability to interact, communicate, and progress, has not one but many subtypes. So, this day emphasizes the need for public awareness to promote acceptance, celebrate the differences, and be more inclusive towards autistic individuals around us.
No one deserves to be left behind, so let us walk this journey together hand in hand!
